Giving Back: San Antonio Food Bank Volunteer Day

Giving Back: San Antonio Food Bank Volunteer Day

June 12, 2023

At Ben & Annie’s Trees for Tomorrow, we believe in the power of trees to transform communities and promote a more sustainable, healthier way of living. Rooted in our mission to build better environments and stronger communities, we’re proud to have quarterly “give back” volunteer days as a company, where we get out in the local community and support an organization with a meaningful, incredible cause. This quarter, we spent the day at the phenomenal San Antonio Food Bank, which allowed us to not only give back to the San Antonio area, but also foster team building and collaboration within our organization. Continue reading as we share our experiences and the impact we felt during this fulfilling day.

Looking back on our volunteer day

The day began with a shared sense of purpose and enthusiasm as our team gathered to embark on a volunteer activity. As part of our commitment to community service, we were beyond proud to dedicate this quarterly volunteer day to support the San Antonio Food Bank—which actively fights hunger and feeds hope in San Antonio and Southwest Texas, serving one of the largest service areas in the region.

Understanding the importance of the San Antonio Food Bank's mission deeply resonated with us at Ben & Annie's Trees for Tomorrow. Founded in 1980, their focus extends beyond providing immediate food assistance. They strive to empower the local community with the resources and support needed to become self-sufficient in the future—which aligns with our own mission of building better environments and promoting sustainable living. We recognize that addressing hunger is not just about providing food for today, but also about creating pathways to a brighter, more resilient future.

During the event, the Ben & Annie’s team sorted through donations and organized them into the appropriate bins. Witnessing the generosity of our community members as we handled their donations was a humbling experience, and the vast array of items demonstrated the compassion and willingness of individuals to support those in need. By actively contributing to the efficient distribution of these resources, we knew we were playing a small but crucial role in fulfilling the San Antonio Food Bank's mission—and our team was honored to be a part of that.

While sorting through the donations, we not only organized food cans, boxes and bags, but we also sorted feelings of gratitude and fulfillment. Collaborating side by side, we strengthened our connections with one another, discovering skills and shared passions among our team members. Our experience at the San Antonio Food Bank highlighted the power of collective effort and the impact we can make when we come together for a greater cause—and the memories forged and lessons learned during our time at the food bank will forever resonate within our organization.

Contributing to a better tomorrow

Volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank was a profoundly rewarding experience for Ben & Annie’s Trees for Tomorrow. We embraced the opportunity to give back to our local community and witnessed firsthand the influence of our collective efforts in supporting the food bank's mission. This experience serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness between trees, communities and sustainable development. Just as trees contribute to cleaner air and greener living environments, the San Antonio Food Bank nurtures a healthier, more compassionate community. We remain grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside the San Antonio Food Bank and will continue to seek ways to make a positive impact through our ongoing initiatives—one tree, effort or act of kindness at a time.
